Protecting the people of N.Ireland and responding to people in distress was their priority. The provos priorities on the other hand seemed to be setting off bombs in towns and cities full of innocent people and unborn babies even. So fuck you man. They went out to protect the people of Northern Ireland, responded to 999 calls in notorious no-go areas even though they knew injury or even death was near to inevitable. Well said mate. I felt exactly the same way about the RUC when I was a lad. It made me so proud knowing we had the only police force in the world who took on scum terrorists. For 38 years these brave men and women of the RUC placed their lives on the line so the majority of NI could live in relative peace. This is really well made video and a compelling piece of music. I feel bad for the RUC, many people in the communities they were trying to protect must have hated them. Sure they use tear gas, riot shields and break down doors etc but that was probably because people were trying to kill them. I bet your average RUC man/woman would have preferred to keep order without force. But you must see how nationalist can point to literally hundreds of incidents ranging from murder and collusion to assault, sectarian behaviour and failure to investigate cases properly? It's difficult for a Police service in a situation like the troubles to be seen as impartial. The behaviour of many officers was heroic, while others were a disgrace to the uniforn and to the rule of law. Stalker, Special Branch running ongoing murderers as informants, Pat Finucane, shoot to kill, collusion with loyalist death squads, etc, etc, etc, suggests the force was far from impartial at times.
