Media is a HOAX. Sorry, I don't support Cochlear Implant for the babies. Doctor are screwed up with the deaf babies. Many hearing parents don't accepted deaf child in their modern society. I already knew it, Stupidity!

@EmanuelHoogeveen I did have one ear done, and am waiting to have the other done. It works unbelievably well. I am now at 62 years of age hearing the higher frequencies and can actually hope to be free from the necessity of lip-reading. That little baby being activated at eight months is never going to know the loneliness of being deaf in a hearing world. It is simply beautiful to see!

@patna4881 I'm pretty sure you can still get one of these implants, if the operation isn't too pricy. I know the mother of a friend of my parents got one, and it has worked wonders. You do have to be used to being able to hear at least a little bit for it to work right as an adult, if I recall correctly - but don't quote me on that.

I love the expression on his face - it's like "Are you shitting me?!" Awesome technology; soon no one will have to be deaf anymore, for any reason (not to mention the potential for hypersensitive hearing, which could have many applications including say, rescuing people from collapsed buildings).

i found this and I cried when i watched it. i'm not supposed to cry! oh i cant help it. to think of how technology is progressing. thank science for this. personally, i could only imagine hearing for the first time. this guy is hearing...for the first time....and just think, if it wasn't for the progress of science, this guy would not be hearing. I was born deaf but with enough hearing to love what I heard with a HA, I so wish this technology had been available for both my sister and I 60 and 70 years ago. For those of you in the militant deaf community, would you deny your blind child an operation to gain sight?
