@jbacz If I warmed my diesel up I would be waiting 20 minutes or more. The ECU in modern cars prevents engine damage by controlling how fast you can accelerate and drive. There is no difference to leaving it standing compared to driving unless you use one of those silly Diesel Tuning Boxes which throws lots of diesel in and breaks the engine.

I'm writing a song about my Ural 4320 11ltr Diesel. It's got an integral generator, so no pedalling for auxiliary power. It smokes like a bastard but it sounds great when I gun it down to Glasgow, though it's a bugger to find a big enough parking space in the town. I've not posted the song yet. There are some good points here but driving with a cold engine is very bad advice. 'Always' warm the engine for a good five minutes before you take off and longer for cold mornings. This is especially important for high power performance vehicles. I even let my car run for two minutes after use to allow the turbo to cool before switching off. Major engine repairs are can cost thousands to repair even on everday cars, and driving with a cold engine is the No.1 cause of all engine wear.

States should ban the use of cars in the center of the cities. And we should change our habbits, cars must be used only for long distances and when traveling. More efficient means of public transportation inside the cities is a solution.

Does it matter if global warming is caused by humans? I mean, stopping what people believe to be a man-made warming is not the only purpose of energy saving - it also saves you a lot of money. I guess this is a pretty nice video and fun to watch for both children and adults :)

Air Recycling Technology if used in Vacuum Cleaners could actually save each year in the UK, an amount of energy equal to that generated by 800 Medium sized wind generators. I would not describe it as political power, but it is to ensure that Britain and Europe maintain the ability to influence global events and not simply be swamped by China and the United States. I think Britwatcher is a party plant. This is why you can not just say "lets leave the EU" without focusing on the other matters. Switzerland is more isolationist than Norway. Switzerland has taken pride in its neutral status where it stays out of things and has done for over a century. Britain is not like that. The UK is a member of the UN security council. Switzerland and Norway are not in the European Union, however they both continue down the path of EU integration. Both allow EU citizens the right to live and work in those countries, just in the way Polish workers can come and live here. The immigration issue is one of the main things people moan about europe, yet it applies to non EU countries too. Norway and Switzerland also both are part of the schengen zone, (open borders). Britain as a member of the EU doesnt even go that far.

Yes our population and economy remains the same, the point is when the EU speaks with one voice as it does on trade at something like the WTO, we have a much more powerful voice. The world is changing, we can not stop this change. With a growing China and India, with Britains share of global GDP radically declining along with our military strenght. We need membership of the European Union which is able to have a far stronger voice on the world stage in trade talks or dealing with other issues because of its size. Whilst membership is expensive and results in many pointless directives and regulations, taking an isolationist approach would weaken this country more.

I respect you dedication to this issue, without doubt i think you are the best backbencher in the house of commons but i do disagree with your views on Britains withdrawl from the European Union and the wording of the sovereignty bill introduced which goes too far. I support the conservative policy of returning certain powers back to westminster and ensuring that no new powers are transfered. I also agree the EU has huge problems but we can not just walk away from the union.
